Ingredients

Bread

  • 6 Piece Brown Bread
  • 2 Tbsp Clarified Butter (Ghee)

Jaggery Syrup

  • 1/4 Cup Jaggery Powder
  • 1/4 Cup Water

Custard

  • 1 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Custard Powder (Vanilla Flavoured)
  • 2 Tbsp Jaggery Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Garnish

  • 1/4 Cup Chocolate Sauce (Store bought or Homemade)
  • 2 or 3 Tbsp Sugar Sprinkles

Instructions

Toast Bread

  1. Cut bread in various shapes using cookie cutter. I used heart shape.

  2. Brush clarified butter on both sides.

  3. Toast in airfryer at 180 degrees for 5 minutes or till golden brown.

Make Jaggery Syrup

  1. Heat jaggery with water and boil it for 2 or 3 minutes till thickens slightly.

Make Custard

  1. Dissolve custard powder in 2 tbsp milk.

  2. Heat rest of the milk with jaggery powder. When jaggery dissolves and milk is heated well, add the custard powder mix.

  3. Cook the custard for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring continuously, till it gets slightly thick.

Assembly

  1. Let it cool down slightly. Now, dip toasted bread hearts in this syrup and arrange in the serving plate.

  2. Spoon little more jaggery syrup on the toasted bread once laid in the serving plate.

  3. Pour custard sauce over these bread hearts.

  4. Drizzle chocolate sauce and sprinkle sugar sprinkles.

  5. Chill in the refrigerator for an hour or two.

  6. Serve with love, additional custard sauce and chocolate sauce optional.

Recipe Notes

Instead of air frying, you can deep fry the bread hearts or toast them in otg/toaster.

Leftover trimmings of bread can be used for making bread crumbs or bread upma.
