How To Make

  • Making this layered dessert is really easy. You need only 3 ingredients for this recipe. And those 3 ingredients are custard, Gulab Jamun, and whipped cream.
  • You can make Gulab Jamun at home or simply buy it as these are easily available. I too used the readymade ones.
  • As I use small Gulab Jamun, therefore just cut them into 2 for use in the trifle. However, if big ones then cut them into 4 or 6 pieces depending on their size and of your serving glass.
  • As I used mini shot glasses, I just arranged one layer of each. you can repeat the layers again depending on your glass.

FAQs

Q) Can I make-head this dessert?

This is the best part of this recipe. You can make it a few hours prior to your party/gettogether. That way, you will be free at that time and can easily serve it to your guests whenever required.

Q) Can I use leftover Gulab Jamuns for this recipe?

As I said it is one of the most popular sweets. So at times, one gets bored of eating the same gulab jamun, and you are left with plenty of these. The makeover of leftovers is the best way to use the leftovers. And this pudding is exactly that. So, give a new look to your leftover gulab jamuns by making this dessert.

Q) Any specific type of Gulab Jamun to be used for this recipe?

  • Though you can take any Gulab Jamun but I prefer taking the tiny ones. Sweet shops call these 'Rasbhari'.
  • These come in 3 different colors namely white, brown and black. Avoid white and choose from brown or black or maybe both.

Q) Can I substitute custard pudding with ice cream?

  • You can. But I have not used ice cream here so that I can make this delectable dessert ahead of party time.
  • However, if you assemble this pudding at the time of serving only then of course, you can use ice cream.
  • Also, do not freeze if you make with ice cream, because then along with the ice cream, gulab jamun will also freeze and become rock hard.

Gulab Jamun Dessert

An interesting fusion dessert to liven up your parties.

For Custard

  • 3 Tbsp Custard Powder
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar

Whipped Cream

  • 250 ml Whipping Cream

Assembly

  • 12 Pc Gulab Jamun (Small Ones)
  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Pistachios
  • 1 tbsp Rose leaves, Dried And Crushed

For Custard

  1. We need slightly thick custard for this pudding. Dissolve 3 tbsp custard powder in 2 or 3 tbsp milk.

  2. Heat the remaining milk with sugar in it.

  3. Add dissolved custard in the hot milk, stirring continuously from the other hand.

  4. Ensure that there are no lumps.

  5. Cook it for a minute or two. As it thickens, switch off the flame.

  6. When cools down, keep it in the refrigerator. We need chilled custard for this pudding.

Whip Cream

  1. Keep the bowl and the whipping blades in the freezer for half an hour, as this eases the process of whipping.

  2. Keep the thawed whipping cream on a bed of ice and whip till it forms stiff peaks.

  3. Keep it in the refrigerator till use.

Assembly

  1. Cut Gulab Jamun into 2 pieces. (Or more depending on their size)

  2. Take shot glasses or any other of your choice.

  3. Add about 2 spoon custard in the glass.

  4. Arrange cut gulab jamun pieces. Place them so that their outer side touches the wall of the glass. This is just an idea and not necessary.

  5. Fill the whipped cream in a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle (or any other).

  6. Pipe the whipped cream on the Gulab jamuns.

  7. Sprinkle pistachios and rose petals.

  8. Serve with love.

  1. Transfer the whipping cream from the freezer to the refrigerator a day before so that it gets to its liquid state.
  2.  We have taken little more custard powder than the usual as we want thick custard.
  3. Chill the custard as we need cool custard for this recipe.
  4. Cut Gulab Jamun into small pieces, depending on their size.
  5. Repeat the layers if the glass is of bigger size.
